“Citizens of the suburban giant sleep walk in silent synchronization.” Wake up!I would like to personally welcome you to the long overdue official premiere of my body of works on the web. Being an experienced marketing/PR director and magazine editor, you’d think I would have gotten to this sooner, but for some reason self promotion never found itself very high on my list. First of all, feel free to explore the series shown here and send me comments, requests, or scathing critiques. This will be a continually updated work in progress…as much of an organic evolution as any of my work. Return often as new work and old work never before seen will make its way to this forum regularly: books, art work, photography, sculpture, insights… It was created for you: my friends, my family, collectors, clients, but most of all, the people I don’t already know. This site, and the work and information contained within, is an intimate window to who I am and the journey I’ve taken…I hope everyone will discover a piece of themselves in sharing that with me. Now, a little about me and my work… I’ve avoided commercialized production and simplification of my work to avoid a dumbing-down of the meaning behind my pieces and greatly encourage collectors to commission pieces so that the work will inherently carry a piece of themselves and thus have more intrinsic weight. I have no intention of ever being a mass painter as I am only driven to produce art work that is purely innovative and progressive. Every action has a reaction and no steps are pointlessly retraced. Thus, I retain all original intellectual property rights on my pieces so that they are available to everyone. Throughout my life, I had always excelled in math and sciences and never pursued any Art seriously until my life took a serious detour with the collapse of my family’s financial integrity and well being—my mother became partially blind during the removal of a brain tumor and my father lost his small business, no longer able to work after the onset of progressive multiple sclerosis. We have since suffered a spectacular decent from wealth to poverty losing our home and nearly all our possessions, but still our family remains united. To fill a massive spiritual and emotional void while at Stanford University, I began for the first time in my life to produce Art, for my own benefit, to help comprehend the nature of the tragedies that had befallen us. I used the mathematical and scientific understanding I had gained and wove it in to the narrative of my life and the world around me. Having never prescribed to religion, I found spirituality, beauty, and hope in the divine connection that emerged between all things. You can see through all my work the deeply personal foundation that called for each creation. So, I invite you to open your eyes a little wider…and wake up. Sincerely, Eric Hendrix |
